Sulphur
Elemental sulphur, obtained as a byproduct of oil and gas production, is produced in the United States, Canada, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
The disposition of this sulphur presents a special challenge to today's refiner. If it is allowed to accumulate at gas plants and oil refineries, it has the potential to shut these facilities down. The financial implications of such an interruption are staggering.
