For over 55 years ICEC has been a leader in the international fertilizer market in Brasil. Over the last decade the Brasilian market for fertilizer and crop products has changed dramatically. This has created a variety of challenges for both suppliers and consumers.
 |
In 2000, ICEC identified an opportunity to co-invest in a grain and fertilizer marine terminal located 100 km south of Paranagua. Partners for the project included international grain operators, Brasilian logistic service providers, local fertilizer distribution networks, a large Brasilian railway and sizeable Brasilian farm complexes. This partnership created an opportunity to cooperate with local soybean producers to increase operation productivity, augment fertilizer distribution and reduce supply chain costs. |
ICEC’s experience in both Brasilian and International markets has allowed us to develop an innovative and value-added opportunity for suppliers.
Sixty percent of the world’s soybean market is controlled by large international consortiums, leaving the remaining forty percent of independent soybean producers with a number of challenges. Challenges like obtaining credit for fertilizer purchases; distribution and transportation difficulties; and competitive market conditions. ICEC and its partners created the Soybean Origination Program to facilitate the purchase of fertilizers through the financing of soybean sales for these independent growers. |
 |
As experts in international fertilizer trade we arrange for extended financing and the purchase of fertilizer for soybean producers. ICEC is the exclusive input supplier of the fertilizer to all participating cooperatives. This leads to a direct increase in revenue for fertilizer suppliers.
ICEC and its partners are working on similar programs for other products. These programs will provide greater opportunities for creating, distributing, funding and financing the import of fertilizers.
Through the investment in the terminal our partners receive better penetration into the grain producing markets of central Brasil. This has led to a consistent and significant increase in fertilizer sales since 2000. As this new venture grows our client’s business grows.
Through these initiatives we provide an innovative and modern approach to help both suppliers and consumers. The results of which are increased net backs, the elimination of credit and payment risk, an increase in volumes, and the creation of additional funding for fertilizer imports.
We understand what it takes, because at ICEC we speak your language. |
