There is an annual influx of around four million people ranging from cruise liner passengers to day-trippers from the Costa del Sol taking advantage of the duty-free shopping. The rock of Gibraltar has been of significant historical importance for over 3,000 years because of its strategic location at the entrance of the Mediterranean. The museum of Gibraltar houses an impressive collection of good historical, architectural and military displays.
